Ender's Game (2013) Review

Ender's Game takes place in an apocalyptic future, you know without any of the destruction which is exactly what you wanted to see when you pay 12 dollars on a ticket. They basically wound it up to being a simple "it's happening on the others side of the world so of course were ignorant to it effects". Insert Facepalm Here. Basically an alien race attacked earth casing mass hysteria and the military to go all gun-ho on them aliens ass. The military decide that the chances of the alien race coming back to attack earth was to astronomical and the only way to stop these evil, evil aliens was to train children to be warriors... no no sorry "strategist" don't misunderstand me i can see why this world would need great strategist but why would i as an audience member care about the training of a 12 year old boy to be the next alexander the great. Actually that sounds really interesting I would have loved to see that film but sadly Ender's Game decided to cast a young attractive lead instead of an actor who could at least try to emulate the intense and brutal challenges this character has to face. I have nothing against Asa Butterfield (Lead actor) who plays Ender but he was simply not ready for a role like this. All of his reaction came across like a child screaming for attention from his parents. The ironic thing is that movie actually chopped it all up so that was the character’s main goal is exactly that, to reach some level of acceptance from his "Father figure" Colonel Graff played by Harrison Ford i know what you're thinking "Indi is this movie! yaaaaaaa" no he clearly phoned in his performance. Can you blame him? This film was clearly aiming to be a box office hit and nothing more. Thought the film more stuff happens to elevate this boy's training making him question his part in the war and doubtful that he could be the one to stop this long war... oh ya there is no war the opposing army is at home chilling and earth's military has marked them a treat and you bet your ass there going to knock on the planet's front door, bust in and kick some alien ass. Witch if you didn't pick up on the 12 year old CHILD is meant to open a can of whoop ass on this planet. This is a two hour film with nothing but filler honestly the only important thing that come from watching the second act is the knowledge of who Enders friends are. Because they help Enders open said can of whoop ass basically the grab the can opener while Ender spilled the beans, i mean he basically tosses the beans on himself nothing spills on the planet. Ya that bad. In the end and this is a spoiler for those who haven't seen it. The final exam was to destroy the planet in a simulated but when Ender passes his teachers reveal that the final exam wasn't a simulation it was a real attack which actually shocked me. I can't say this is a good thing because during the final exam i didn't care about the outcome at the time nothing was at stake beside Enders passing Grade (Which i didn't care about at all). They chopped it all up to the kid committing genocide and its okay because... well Merica! To launch a sequel they add this sub plot where Ender actually had communication with the Queen of the opposing planets. The queen implanted the idea that Ender could in some way redeem himself by getting the last alien egg and populating a new planet with this species. All in all this film was a waste of my time and a waste in the studios time seeing as it failed in the box office. i wouldn't recommend this film and if you've seen it, then you have my deepest and sincere apologies.

The Conjuring

The Conjuring is based on the old case files of Ed and Lorraine Warren. I'm not going to lie I've already forgotten the families name but they are being hunted in a new home they have recently purchased, they need the help of Ed and Lorraine to ride them of their horrific mistake. Yes I wont deny the fact that the plot seems kind of cheesy. Non the less this was a great Horror film. After such films like paranormal activity I have begun to lose my faith in horror genera but I honestly love horror films, I can never get enough of the blood squirting everywhere. My favorite monsters cursing those who caused them so much pain, that the only way to express them selves is to lash out and "slash" their oppressors (pun intended). The Conjuring is the exact opposite of my personal favorite horror films. That would explain why I hate these new "horror" films having to deal with an all American family you know the great husband, devoted house wife and beautiful kids that can do no wrong. Then out of the blue one gets possest and an exercism is needed to not only save ones soul but a family in desperate need. Just the sound of that plot made my stomach hurt. Then I saw James Wan  masterpiece,  a great addition to the horror franchise and to me has become one of the best horror films I've ever seen. James Wan has come a long way from saw, personally Saw is not a horror film its a horror movie. A joke all within its self, if you may. I thank god James Wan made this film for not only did it bring my hopes back for these possession story lines but my hope of the horror genera as a whole. Not only was every shot beautiful to the last pixel but perfectly a lined (in my personal opinion of course). The films score was amazingly beautiful making me wonder at every moment throughout the film even in the morning scenes what was around that corner. I really enjoyed this film and would suggest it to everyone I know even if you hate horror films its worth a few scares. The first case they showed in the beginning of the film to show somewhat what the Warrens do and that little peace sent shivers down my spine, and you know what I loved it "miss me?" come on isn't that just creepy even out of contexts its creepy. if you love horror films watch the conjuring it will be well worth your time.

Night At The Museum Review

Instant classic, in my eyes. This had to be the film that made me fall in love with Museums for so many of the right reasons. (oh ya you know what I mean) I've seen this film so many times its incredible I'm not annoyed by it. I remember going with my father and siblings to go see this film when it came out and I was amazed, filled with wonder and a sense of fulfilment because any time I went to a Museum before watching this film I had the idea of the exhibits being alive and playing around. It was great to imagine it but to see it on that sliver screen was just something else, to this day I still can't find a word to describe my astonishment toward this film. Not only that, but Ben Stiller stared as Larry Daley the new younger security guard who is chosen to replace the three old men but soon finds out that at night the museum and all its exhibits come to life. Honestly is their ever been a better children movie? Don't answer that. Oh and I have to say, has their ever been a more likeable villain in the world then Dick Van Dyke come on I liked Larry but who wouldn't be rooting for Dick Van Dyke. I also just found out that the film was based on a children's book called The Night at the Museum written by Milan Trench.

My Apologies

I'm very sorry to those who check on my blog hoping to read my newest movie review, the last time I posted a blog was almost two weeks ago. I insally stoped because I had thanksgiving break and honestly I just wanted to enjoy it by just watching movies and enjoying it for what it is, a movie. I know that's not a good excuse but what can I say, that's all I have. When I came back to school that first Monday my teacher announced that on Friday my classmates had to write a comment on all my blog's so I decided to be nice and just wait on posting my new reviews until Saturday not only that but I have found that randomly posting my blogs is just annoying and unneeded so for now on I will be posting my blogs on Friday one each week I thing that's the best idea for me personally maybe if I'm feeling generous ill post one or two on the weekdays. Remember ladies and gentlemen Black Friday just passed so you can trust I have some nice and I mean nice movies. To all my followers thank you so much and to all my reads thank you as well.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters Review

Why is it so short? I sit down and start to relax while i watch this movie and its over. I have to say that was disappointing expectantly since i thought the story had a lot of potential to be more then just another action pack film. With that being said this movie had so many action packed scenes, plus the blood and gore who wouldn't enjoy this film. The CGI was great too but i kinda wish they used CGI on the troll the whole film not just when he fought. I know that cost an arm and leg on the black market buy money shouldn't be in issue especially since its not mine. The cast was great too, there was three reasons why i went to the theaters to see this film one for  who played Hansel, two because it was a child's fable turned into a rated R film (i know childish), three the weapons looked amazing. Let me explain to those why this movie was rated R for one they cussed not old English cussing  but modern day cuss words which made me step back and say "that makes no scenes". Not only that but the weapons took me out of the world and wonder how people from the medieval times have a revolver? I have to give it to it thou the guns looked amazing the design was perfect for the "time" i suppose but at least they had that with each gun used having a special feather in them allowing them all to be used and executed perfectly for the time they were used on screen. The story was okay i guess i personally feel so much more could have been added, lets just say i got the Blu-ray for the perfect picture of action and the perfect sound of witches screaming. oh and if you think i'm exaggerating the time of the film, well then you should know its only an hour and twenty-seven minutes long take out the five minutes from the ending credits an its only an hour and twenty-two minutes long. Even tho i did kinda feel it was short it still had its moments and Jeremy Renner so it was okay. I would have to say any action loves who need that extra dose of blood and gore, you'll love this movie others just might want to pass.

Jack Reacher Review

What did i just see? Not only was i surprised by 's performance but the character him self only known as Jack Reacher is a Bad Ass. Some points in the movie i actually covered my mouth and yelled "damn that is cold!". Even the fighting scenes made me shut up and just watch, witch made me feel the film was more of a thriller than an action pack blockbuster. I think that's why the film didn't get great reviews in my opinions. The trailers (at least the ones i saw) mainly had Jack Reacher narrating who exactly he was, with these intense action sequence being played. Personally i think people expected the movie to be a bad boy who loves to brake things and not fallow the law. Witch it was just not in a way people expected it to me it was more down to earth. In one scene Jack took on a two people who attack him, he takes them out and finds that one man is behind him with a gun pointed at his back Jack quickly turns around to face the man and slowly walks up to him and exactly when the man shot Jack was able to push the gun to the side then use the gun to bend the guys finger asking him questions about the investigation Jack ends with one last question wheres the guys car and did Jack steal it because if the guy reports the car stolen Jack will make the guy look like the guys knocked out on the floor, the guys quickly screamed god man okay you didn't steal it man you know what barrow it for as long as you want. Don't wiry knowing that wont kill the movie for you at all so its not a spoiler but it is more realistic and i can appreciate that. The plot (story) is just a huge brain teaser keeping you on your feet thought the whole film. A cereal killer has killed five people, the man accused for doing the murders is Jack's old "Friend" from the military. Jack has come out of hiding to find out the true identity of the murder. I know from that the plot seems basic but i can tell you much more for the fear that it would spoil the film for all who haven't seen it. I will say this thou the movie is more than two hours long so expect the twist and turns to come every second. The beginning was so shocking that i honestly had to ignore the movie for five minutes and wonder why would anybody do something like that who would have the ability to do something so horrific. Just because of this this film has became somewhat memorable. I would recommend this to all thriller junkies and to anybody looking to see something new.
