Ender's Game (2013) Review

Ender's Game takes place in an apocalyptic future, you know without any of the destruction which is exactly what you wanted to see when you pay 12 dollars on a ticket. They basically wound it up to being a simple "it's happening on the others side of the world so of course were ignorant to it effects". Insert Facepalm Here. Basically an alien race attacked earth casing mass hysteria and the military to go all gun-ho on them aliens ass. The military decide that the chances of the alien race coming back to attack earth was to astronomical and the only way to stop these evil, evil aliens was to train children to be warriors... no no sorry "strategist" don't misunderstand me i can see why this world would need great strategist but why would i as an audience member care about the training of a 12 year old boy to be the next alexander the great. Actually that sounds really interesting I would have loved to see that film but sadly Ender's Game decided to cast a young attractive lead instead of an actor who could at least try to emulate the intense and brutal challenges this character has to face. I have nothing against Asa Butterfield (Lead actor) who plays Ender but he was simply not ready for a role like this. All of his reaction came across like a child screaming for attention from his parents. The ironic thing is that movie actually chopped it all up so that was the character’s main goal is exactly that, to reach some level of acceptance from his "Father figure" Colonel Graff played by Harrison Ford i know what you're thinking "Indi is this movie! yaaaaaaa" no he clearly phoned in his performance. Can you blame him? This film was clearly aiming to be a box office hit and nothing more. Thought the film more stuff happens to elevate this boy's training making him question his part in the war and doubtful that he could be the one to stop this long war... oh ya there is no war the opposing army is at home chilling and earth's military has marked them a treat and you bet your ass there going to knock on the planet's front door, bust in and kick some alien ass. Witch if you didn't pick up on the 12 year old CHILD is meant to open a can of whoop ass on this planet. This is a two hour film with nothing but filler honestly the only important thing that come from watching the second act is the knowledge of who Enders friends are. Because they help Enders open said can of whoop ass basically the grab the can opener while Ender spilled the beans, i mean he basically tosses the beans on himself nothing spills on the planet. Ya that bad. In the end and this is a spoiler for those who haven't seen it. The final exam was to destroy the planet in a simulated but when Ender passes his teachers reveal that the final exam wasn't a simulation it was a real attack which actually shocked me. I can't say this is a good thing because during the final exam i didn't care about the outcome at the time nothing was at stake beside Enders passing Grade (Which i didn't care about at all). They chopped it all up to the kid committing genocide and its okay because... well Merica! To launch a sequel they add this sub plot where Ender actually had communication with the Queen of the opposing planets. The queen implanted the idea that Ender could in some way redeem himself by getting the last alien egg and populating a new planet with this species. All in all this film was a waste of my time and a waste in the studios time seeing as it failed in the box office. i wouldn't recommend this film and if you've seen it, then you have my deepest and sincere apologies.
